Easter Eastern Cottontails State College, Pennsylvania | March 23, 2008 |
Here it is, Easter Day, and it seems appropriate to show a few easter cottontails. Well, make that "Eastern Cottontails."

Last year the backyard surprise was a baby cottontail exploring whatever could be eaten.

Baby cottontails are like most babies: curious and willing to explore.
The transformation into adulthood changes the demeanor of an eastern cottontail. The following adult can only be described as regal. The bunny is not amused.

Of course, for corn kernels and some wheatbread, a cottontail may deign to come close for a snack.

In the early spring, when food is most scarce, we have our widest variety of animal visitors.
Photo note: I used the Pentax *1st D for these photos. The first three were taken in 2007, and the last one is from a few days ago. The first, second, and fourth photos were taken with the SMC-A* 200mm macro lens, and the third, with the SMC 1000mm reflex. |
