Meadow Fritillary Boloria bellona | Sept. 18, 2016 |
From 2007 on this page, I had a single photo of a meadow fritillary and of a variegated fritillary, but with photos from subsequent sightings, meadow fritillaries remain here, and the variegated fritillary has its own page.
The meadow fritillary (Boloria bellona) is a smaller fritillary but, all the same, a mid-size butterfly that a person can easily see by eye alone. |
A below-the-wing view. |
My kneeling allows an interesting viewpoint of the meadow fritillary. |
The Snetsinger Butterfly Garden has been a particularly good place to see meadow fritillaries.
Photo note: I used the Pentax K3, with the SMC-A* 200mm macro lens, for the photos, which were taken in September 2016 at the Snetsinger Butterfly Garden in State College, Pennsylvania. |
