Giant Swallowtail Papilio cresphontes | Sept. 20, 2020 |

The giant swallowtail (Papilio cresphontes) is one of those lucky creatures whose name matches its main attribute: It is the largest butterfly in North America. Happily, my small backyard was large enough to accommodate the giant.
In the first photo you can see part of the upper wing, which appears somewhat similar to a male black swallowtail (a page I should update). |

The visit was the second time in two years that a giant swallowtail had feasted at one of my butterfly bushes.
