Last year a neighbor planted crocus bulbs, and this year, March 2003, I was able to enjoy photographing the crocuses. Although the pussy willow catkins are somewhat ahead of the crocuses in development, the crocuses are the first flower to enliven spring.

| Photo note: Both photos were taken in the last week of March 2003 with a Pentax LX and the SMC 85mm soft-focus lens. This lens has a fine reputation for portraits, but I find it does an excellent job with flowers as well. | ||
