Mute SwanJune 7, 2009

The mute swan arriving at Toftrees Pond in May was a surprise visitor. At least I don't recall seeing a mute swan on the pond before (in the five years I've been living in State College).

Mute swans can upset environmentalists, because mute swans are an "invasive species."

But aren't they beautiful!

I overexposed the following shot, but I can't resist the reflection.

A swan is effortlessly graceful.

The above photo has half a traditionally drawn heart, so it is a temptation to complete the image. Perhaps I will one day.

Photo note: I used a Pentax K200D, with the SMC 1000mm reflex lens during late May 2009, for these photos.
