State College Fireworks 2012July 5, 2012

Following are four (somewhat) large firework photos from the Fourth of July display at State College, Pennsylvania.

It took a little effort, inasmuch as I either took the wrong connection between my camera and tripod or couldn't get it to fit. Consequently, I alternated between bracing the camera against the tripod or precariously balancing the camera on the tripod. In spite of all that, many photos came out reasonable.

Another example of a longish exposure and a "braced" camera.

Briliant fireworks

By this time I had worked out a system, and I didn't have to hold the camera. I did remember to bring a remote cable release, and everything was okay as long as I didn't "touch" anything.

Fireworks long and short

Toward the end of the display, for the finale, I made several setting changes, but I lost focus. (The consequences of not paying sufficient attention.) Even so, it is an interesting view, in an impressionistic sort of way.

Firework finale

Fireworks are fun to photograph (and beautiful to see) - especially when having a functioning camera-tripod arrangement.

Photo note: I used a Pentax K20D, with the SMC-DA 55-300mm lens, on July 4, 2012.
