It is quite easy to use superlatives when discussing a raven Corvus corax. Ravens are part of the bird family Corvidae, comprising the most intelligent birds, the most social, and so forth.
Ravens are magnificent flyers. |

And ravens are large and strong, as seen in one of my other sequences, of a raven playing with a red-tailed hawk. Ravens have inspired songs, poems, stories, and movies. Dare I mention Edgar Allen Poe? But ravens do have some strange habits. In October 2010, on Jo Hays Vista, I photographed one carrying what looks like to be a golf ball. |

And in the following year, November 2011, also on Jo Hays Vista, I photographed another raven carrying a golf ball. |

I doubt whether it could be the same ball, but it could be the same raven.
